Kristina Jackson was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. She started in the food and beverage industry early on, learning the ropes at local restaurants. She often spent afternoons at Spot Coffee, a popular watering hole for young Buffalo residents. She attended SUNY Fredonia where she studied music performance. In 2010, she moved to Ithaca, New York to continue her studies in opera, vocal health, and early music at Ithaca College. Like many graduate students, Kristina spent much of her time drinking coffee to get her through all-nighters in the library and vigorous rehearsal schedules. She lived only one block away from Gimme Coffee, a well-known coffee shop and roastery. It was here she had her first true exposure to third-wave, high quality coffee.
Kristina quickly discovered that the meticulous spirit and learning aptitude that serves her so well as a classical musician is a perfect match for the artisanal coffee world. She moved to Boston in 2014, where she immediately began working in coffee shops around town, including Dwelltime and Fazenda. She currently works as a barista at Fleck Coffee, where she spends her early mornings making pourovers and lattes for Newton commuters. Kristina heavily values the ritual of sharing coffee with family, friends, and the community. In our faced-paced, grab and go society, it is essential to slow down and take time to make intimate, human connections. Kristina hopes to bring this to The Sip & Spoke, one cup and one conversation at a time.
